Life’s currency
Think for a moment how life would be if it were not difficult, if there were no challenges. What would motivate you? What would give you enduring satisfaction? Of what value would your accomplishments be if they were brought about with no difficulty?
One of the greatest sources of difficulty for most people is making money and earning a living. But what if this difficulty did not exist? What if everyone had more money than they could ever possibly use? It would be disastrous. Because if everyone had an unlimited supply of money, the money would be worthless.
It is the difficulty of acquiring money which gives that money its value. If money were not difficult to come by, it would be worthless. The same holds true for most everything else in life. The more difficulty associated with it, the more valuable it is.
In fact, you might say that difficulty is the ultimate currency with which we pay for life. It is the necessary price we pay to enjoy the miracle of being alive. To the degree that you’re willing to accept the difficulties, you transcend them and become more fully alive.
