Always there
True happiness does not demand anything at all from you. There is nothing that you must first go out and acquire before you can be happy. Happiness is yours when you decide to live with it. Though the superficial symbols and appearances of happiness may be out of reach, happiness itself never is.
Do you want to truly be happy, or would you rather just look like you’re happy? Lots of people go to plenty of effort to surround themselves with the appearance of happiness, but that is a sadly empty pursuit, even when it is successful.
The genuine happiness that comes from the heart does not cost anything -- it pays. The decision to be happy and thankful for where you are can do far more to move you ahead than any resentment or discontent.
There is nothing outside of you that forces you to be happy and nothing that prevents you from being happy. If you’d like the positive power of happiness it is always there for you to live.
