Keeping Score

The best way to stay competitive is to ignore the competition. Run your own race. When you look back to see who is gaining on you, you lose ground. When you start trying to match your competition blow for blow, product for product, feature for feature, then you’re playing their game.

Instead, set your own standards. Why waste time keeping score when you could put that effort into improving your performance? The only way to create value, wealth and abundance in your own life is to provide value to the lives of others. This requires focusing on the “for", rather than the “against.”

You’ll never be competitive by reacting to someone else’s actions, especially in this fast-paced world. Better to put your energy into doing the best that you can possibly do. Competitors try to capture a share of the market. Leaders create their own market. Take your own initiative and excel at your own game.
