Credibility
I never give them hell. I just tell
the truth, and they think it is hell.
-- Harry S Truman
Telling people what they want to hear is easy. Yet telling the truth, even if it is unpleasant, builds your credibility. Boasting about your strengths and accomplishments is easy. Admitting your weaknesses, mistakes and disappointments builds your credibility. Saying you’ll do something, is easy. Doing what you say, builds credibility. Making excuses is easy. Taking responsibility, builds your credibility.
It is difficult to make much progress, when no one believes you. Credibility is vital to success. And credibility is evidenced by your behavior.
The truth often hurts. Yet, it is worth the pain. Respect, influence and accomplishment go to those who are strong enough to speak the truth.
Winners are confident enough to use the truth.
