The important thing is this: To be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.

Think and do

The life of wisdom must be a life of
contemplation combined with action.

                  -- M. Scott Peck

It is not enough just to think about and visualize your achievements. Thoughts alone will not accomplish much unless they are combined with actions. Nor is it enough just to take action. Without focus and thoughtfulness, your actions can be useless and even destructive.

It is the combination of thinking and doing which produces greatness. Thought and clear visualization make your actions effective, and your actions serve to make your thoughts a reality.

Thought is not a substitute for action, and neither is action a substitute for thought. Although both thought and action are necessary, most people are more inclined to one than to the other. Much of the effort needed to accomplish anything is in overcoming the “natural” tendency to think without doing, or to act without thinking. For those who are willing to make that effort, anything is possible.
