Control
If you’re reading this message on your computer, here’s a simple exercise. With your left index finger, lightly touch, but do not press, the “C” key on your keyboard.
Though it may seem quick, easy and intuitive, you’ve just accomplished some very powerful and sophisticated things. You’ve exercised precise control, aiming at and reaching a target less than one half inch in size. You’ve also exercised restraint, by touching the key without pressing it.
The point of this exercise is to demonstrate and remind you of a powerful and important truth -- that you are in control of your actions. Every moment of the day, you control and direct yourself to the finest degree. You control what food and drink you put in your mouth, and also what words come out of your mouth. You control when you get out of bed in the morning, and every action that follows.
The control you’ve exercised in the past has brought you to precisely where you are right now. By controlling your actions, you can take yourself to wherever it is you wish to go. Anytime you get to thinking that something is out of reach or that you “just can’t” bring yourself to act, reach over and touch that “C” key. Remember, you’re in control. You can do it if you really wish.
