Simple desires

For every desire you have, no matter how far out of reach it may seem, there is a part of that desire, at some level, which can be fulfilled right now. If you desire a shiny new sports car, ask yourself why. Don’t be satisfied with an answer of “who wouldn’t?” Make a real and sincere effort to uncover the deep and driving connection between the desire and your true self.

What if, at the heart of it, your desire for a sports car was driven by the simple desire to feel the cool wind in your face? All too often, we are ashamed at the raw simplicity of our desires, and we seek to hide them in complexity. What an enormous amount of needless effort that obliges!

Whatever you desire, go for it as directly as possible or you’ll run the risk of getting sidetracked by all the interim necessities along the way. Most desires are simple and wonderful. Acknowledge their true essence, and you’re well on your way toward their fulfillment.
